The questions I am asked most often are “Can you fix…?” or “Can you stop me from…?”
My answer is always the same.
If you reach the underlying cause of any barrier, you can overcome it. It’s that simple.
The difficulty comes in knowing the underlying causes because they tend to be subconscious.
Hypnotherapy offers a distinct point of difference in understanding these causes because we access the subconscious area of the brain where every memory, emotion, belief and value lives.
The diagram illustrates the depth of the subconscious mind, especially when compared to the smaller conscious (thinking) mind.
If you take a moment to consider your thinking mind, how much chatter goes on, the worries and concerns going around and around, how many decisions you make from there, the different ways in which you rely on it each day, get a sense of just how busy your mind is.
Now consider that this is only 10% of your mind and there is 90% underlying this. Do you know what is in the remaining 90% of your mind?
The subconscious mind cannot differentiate between what is good or bad, helpful or unhelpful. It has no ability to filter any of the information sent to it from the thinking mind, so it stores everything. And I really do mean everything.
Not only does the subconscious mind not filter or differentiate, its job is to make things true. Its obedience is extreme. So whatever you send to it, it does its best to make true by manifesting in your life. How you think and feel about yourself is manifested in your relationship with yourself and therefore with other people. Many people manifest how they feel about themselves through their food intake, comfort and emotionally eating but without clear insight into the underlying reason why. Do you know someone who uses alcohol or other substances to drown out pain, heartache or stress?
After years of driving a car it becomes a subconscious act, a behaviour that you don’t put conscious thought to which allows you to hold a conversation or listen to the radio at the same time. Driving becomes so deeply ingrained into your nervous system and neurobiology that it doesn’t take up room in your thinking mind anymore because it lives and functions from the subconscious space.
So that begs the question, what else is functioning from your subconscious space and manifesting in your life as barriers, repeated mistakes, unhappy relationships, poor decision making, overeating, dissatisfaction, frustration, depression? Consciously that tends to be difficult to answer because you are using 10% of your brain to understand 90% of it. If however, I asked your subconscious this same question during hypnotherapy, the answer would spontaneously appear without interference from your thinking mind. Once you have that clear insight, we go about understanding its purpose (whether it continues to be helpful or not) and ensuring the cause is either cleared and healed, or reprogrammed to be more effective for you.
Remember, your subconscious mind takes information and instructions from your thinking mind and then manifests it into your life. Every thought you think creates your future. Your thoughts are that powerful.
